Anti-Theft Security Lock Question(s)

Hello ALL;
 i just renewed NS and had to redo Norton Mobile Security (why couldn't they leave it alone?).

Anyway does anyone know how the Anti Theft Security Lock works? Can it wipe data, etc on its own by accident, and/or can someone else do it? How does Norton know that the phone or tablet was stolen?

Thank you.

Yes, I did see that but just yesterday.

If you still have not seen the web site, it is at   https://mobilesecurity.norton.com

Thank you so much. That is what I thought but my wife had concerns and we never saw the web site before.

If you are talking about the Security Lock feature in NMS settings, that just makes it harder for someone to uninstall the app from your device to try to bypass your protection.

The wipe feature can only be initiated from the the NMS web portal that you need to sign into with your Norton Account email and password. You can also wipe the device by sending an SMS message with a passcode that you also get from the web site. It cannot wipe on its own.

Norton does not know if your phone is stolen. You have to go to the web site to try to locate, lock and if necessary, wipe the device.
