AntiSpam protected ports

Verizon recently directed internet customers to use SMTP port 465 for outgoing mail and POP3 port 995 for incoming mail.  When I try to configure AntiSpam Protected Port Settings to these port numbers, I get a message that "This port is used by programs other than the supported email programs.  It cannot be added to the list of protected e-mail ports."

The default protected ports are SMTP=25 and POP3=110.

AntiSpam is not blocking any emails from my blocked senders list, and it doesn't seem like I can add the ports that Verizon has directed me to use.  Is there any way to make this product work?  I hate having to go purchase another antispam product when I should be getting this from NIS as advertised.

I also use Verizon and have been using those ports for a very long time. You can use the Verizon Spam Detector which catches a lot of the spam. I empty it several times a day and also check to see if any legitimate emails get in there. They sometimes do. Any spam that does get thru that, I just delete it without opening them up and then delete the contents of the delete folder.

There is no way to add those ports though. It is unfortunate that Symantec still considers 25 and 110 as the standard email ports and the ports that need to be added can't be added.
