Good morning Phil,
thanks for your quick answer! Yes, you are right concerning the temporary files. The zip.files seams not to be a regular known type of zip, even it's not accessible - they can't be opened, copied or deleted :-(
I have never seen before.
Have a nice day, Rolf
Dear all,
using Norton AV2008 under Windows XP/SP2, within a periodical housekeeping I check on a allways more and more full system drive C: a several houndreds of ZIP-files in a directory "C:\.. .. .. LiveUpdate\Downloads".
I know what it is, but they can't be deleted!!??
Will Norton AV2008 delete them by him self periodically? Or can some body tell me how to proceed for deleting those ZIP-files?
Thanks in advance for your help
Best regards from Switzerland
Rolf
I don’t know the folder off hand that you are talking about, but I do have a suggestion that you can try. Have you cleaned out the Live Update cache? Go to Start; Control Panel; Symantec Live Update. You should get a window that has tabs where you can change your Live Update options. Click the Update Cache tab. Click the large button almost at the bottom labeled Remove All Files From Cache. This will do some of the housekeeping. Also note how much storage space you are allotting for the cache files. I have very little trouble with a size of 10MB. This may or may not help in this particular incidence, but it is worth knowing about. Also note, if you ever get a message from Live Update about not having enough disk space then you will want to try this first especially if you know that you have plenty of disk space.
Hi Andrew, - thanks a lot - just this was the solution!
Get a nice weekend, Rolf
As I remember, the files are kept about for around 10 updates back. Actually you can delete the older ones and there is no harm. They should automatically roll off as the new updates are applied. I wouldn't know why there are several hundred zip files, tbut there could be a bunch if you are looking at the individual files and not the zips.
