AntiVirus symnets.sys driver memory leak /w VPN

Norton Antivirus 2011

Version: 18.5.0.125

My computer has been unstable for months.  It's using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with 24Gb RAM and a Intel i7-990x processor.

I finally tracked down the culprit using poolmon.exe to locate the driver which had the memory leak.

It has a tag name of SND1 which is the symnets.sys driver located in:

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\NAVx64\1205000.07D\

The issue appears to occur when a PPTP VPN connection has been established.  This driver will continue to eat non-paged memory until either the system runs out of memory or the VPN connection is closed.

Closing the VPN connection does not free the memory, only halts it using further memory.

Disabling Norton Antivirus 2011 appears to have no effect on preventing the memory leak.

The memory leak appears to climb at a steady rate regardless of user activity.  My system which has 24Gb ram takes several hours before the system runs out of memory and crashes.
