Antivirus XP 2010

I originally got Antivirus XP (the previous incarnation of this virus) last year.  My computer was running the free antivirus software from AVG.  After tying to fix it, I ultimately decide to give up and reformat my system.  I then decide to purchase Norton Internet Security 2009, thinking it would protect my computer from future incidents such as this.  I picked Norton becuase of its reputation and becuase of its well known status, thinking they would certainly do a better job that some freeware.  Now I'm not so sure.

Today I was surfing on the internet and my computer was infected with Antivirus XP 2010.  I have to say that I am extremely disappointed with the quality of my Norton Internet Security and how it was not able to protect my computer.  Antivirus XP 2010 was able to make short work of Norton, and disabled my browser to boot.  If I wasn't lucky enough to have another computer to work with to search and download fixes I would have been SOL, without any way of getting Norton assistance.

On top of this, trying to find any tips on fixing this virus through Norton produced nothing.  In the end I am resorting to fixes being offered for free on the internet such as Malwarebytes.  If that doesn't work, I will probably reformat my computer again.  It is both frustrating and disappointing to think that a company I thought I could trust, like Norton, was unable to help me.

I used to think Norton's products were of high quality and would provide the best protection on the market, but now I am not even sure I will renew my subscription when it runs out.
