My objective is to boot from CD and ghost my new HP Pavilion dv6 bootable partition with Win7 installed on it. You know that these days we have no bootable CDs with OS.
The notebook has SATA HD and SATA Rom. The HD in this machine comes with HP crapware and looks like 5 partitions. I also have eSATA which I can format as FAT if necessary
Using SATA1.ISO and XPBOOTCD.ISO from http://www.bootdisk.com/popfiles.htm I was unable to make any rom or HD driver to work.
The internal drive is ST9500420AS, and Win7 can't tell the manufacturer, but from the model I would assume Seagate. The external drive is Western Digital (WD) WD1600BEVT.
The rom is Intel PCHM SATA AHCI Controller 6 Port - that's all Win 7 can tell.
