My parents thought they were doing everything they were supposed to with Norton anitivirus, but their live update wasn't working, so they didn't have the current virus definitions to scan for. I was working witht their computer yesterday & everytime I tried to connect to symantec.com or malwarebytes.org I was not able to go to their websites. It wasn't the internet connection either because I could go to other websites, but something was preventing me from going to those website, & a couple of other ones that I tried, like AVG.
Just thought if anyone here knew what their computer might be infected with I could download the removal tool or look for the specific instructions. I will also be downloading Norton 2009 today.
Thanks for the help.

I would Recommend N.I.S. 2009. Please let me know which Norton 2009 Product you Installed.
Here are other Web Links for Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and SUPERAntiSpyware. These are the Free Editions of these Products, so they do not have Real-Time Protection so you can keep them Installed on your computer with your Norton Security Product from symantec.
Always Dis-connect from the Internet and Update the Product before doing any Anti-Virus Scans.

Thanks for the quick replies. Right now they have Norton 2005, but I will be deleting it today & installing 2009. I don't know if it's just the antivirus or if it's IS since I'm about 15 miles from the computer now. I did try & install the malwarebytes program yesterday, but I couldn't get it to open. I'll be following the instructions I've found here & see what I can do.
I very much appreciate the help. Now I just hope it doesn't take me all day! :)
