App Lock prevents Bangkok Bank app from working

I use the App Lock on my Samsung s23 Ultra (Android 13) and notice that is prevents my Bangkok Bank app from working.

I don't have the Bangkok Bank app locked. When I try to start the Bangkok Bank app, I get a message "Mobile Banking cannot proceed with your transaction because the system detect accessibility service is operating on your mobile phone wich can be harmful to your mobile banking."  It tells me to turn it off.

Under phone Settings I have to go to Accessibility and turn it off for the App Lock. But then the App Lock does not work.

I want to use the App Lock but also need to use my bank app.

I do note that when I start the Bank app it opens a screen with my bank menus. But when I click a feature, I then login. So I wonder if it it because the App is designed to open the "home" screen?  (I do not see a way to change it).

Thoughts?

I noted your thoughts and sent them email again.

Prior reply was:

Referring to your email, please be informed that turning off accessibility helps reduce the opportunities for third parties to exploit the application, enhance the financial security measures and prevent fraudulent activity.

As I pointed out above the bank blocks the App Lock Accessibility service, but not the 360 Accessibility service. Maybe you can ask the bank about this discrepancy?

I have escalated this thread, so we will have to wait to hear something from Norton.

Yes I tried to lock the App also.

It does not work.

I emailed the bank and put their reply above. Apparently they think it is a security issue. Unsure why as no other financial app I have hbhas any issues with Accessibility settings.

One other thought. You say you do not have the bank's app locked in App Lock. Did you try locking it and test to see if you can access the app correctly?

It is interesting that the bank tags the accessibility service for App Lock and not Norton 360.

I'll escalate this thread to see if we can get an answer from Norton.

360 Accessibility Service - On &  App Lock's Accessibility Service - Off ---- I can open the Bank app BUT then I lost the App Lock feature to protect some other apps that I configured.  I tried to turn on the App Lock Accessibility Service after turning on 360 but the Bank App still does not work.  It does not like the App Lock being On.

Bangkok Bank replied (little beyond my tech expertise but sounds like I am stuck and maybe need to find another App Lock app?) - Just not sure why any other USA financial apps I have are concerned?:

Referring to your email, please be informed that turning off accessibility helps reduce the opportunities for third parties to exploit the application, enhance the financial security measures and prevent fraudulent activity.

With App Lock's Accessibility Service still off, try turning on the 360 Accessibility Service. That is needed for 360's features to properly protect you.  See if you then get blocked again.

Thanks. I have 6 apps installed in the Samsung Accessiblity feature and all were Off (including 360) except App Lock. If I turn App Lock "off" I can then get into my bank app. I did email support there since I wonder if they are doing some sort of partial login as when opened it shows a home screen but no financial data...if I click a bank app feature then it prompts me to login proper. So if Norton App Lock is "On" in the Accessibllty area of my phone I get the bank error message that I can close or a Learn More link...see below as to what they show.

..... In the case that the customer has activated Accessibility (Accessibility) Suggestions on how to turn off accessibility mode. (Accessibility) on Android mobile phones to increase security. Prevent being stolen and tricked by phone scammers. The bank recommends that Android mobile users turn off accessibility mode. (Accessibility) by going into the app and going to Settings and following the steps as follows. .....

When you get this message, is there no option to proceed anyway?

Are you sure it is the app lock Accessibility Service that is causing the issue with that site? That app should only affect accessing and locking individual apps.

I would suggest it is more likely to be the 360 app that might be involved with this issue as that provides web protection.

Try disabling any apps using the Accessibility service one at a time to see which one is involved. When you find the app involved, I would suggest contacting the Bank's support to see if there is some work around they can suggest.
