I've experience with Norton many times in the past, and I was considering Ghost the other day as a possible second backup solution. Whether the backups are directly bootable is my deciding factor. I need a program that can create a HDD mirror an internal or external drive, of which is directly bootable if I were to remove it and slap it into another computer, with no recovery CD, no boot-CD, no nothing, acting as if it was just a regular hard drive.
Why do I need this? I plan on purchasing a laptop in the future to accomodate mobile needs, as I have a gigantic beast of a desktop at the moment. I'm gonna do some mods so I can install 2.5" drives into the system, and I preferably want two 2.5" drives on it, both mirrors of themself. RAID 1 mirror drives aren't bootable if not in RAID, i think, so that's out of the question. Why do I need two drives? I still want some form of backup for my computer. If I'm not mobile on my laptop, the second drive will be my backup. If I am mobile, the drive still in my home computer will be my backup.
So basically, I just need to know whether Norton Ghost 15.0 full disk backups are bootable by itself, no extra boot-CD or perpheral needed.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate at the moment.
Anyways, I know about Copy Drive, but I need it to be updated periodically, like every 3 minutes, sorta like RAID 1 with a little bit of lag in between so if something bad happens, it won't be mirrored on the drive too. The backup itself does that, but you need a rescue disk to do that. Does Copy Drive has a periodic update function?
