Why are there so many unanswered questions on these forums. Surely there is an appetite to either answer the questions, point users to valid solutions, or close the question down as irrelevant?
Some questions have been on here for years!

peterweb:Forum threads are automatically closed by the forum software after 30 days with no new replies.
That explain a lot
So subscribing and clicking on "I have the same question" was a totally un-useful action there!
CoolRaoul:What about that one : https://community.norton.com/en/forums/change-language-2 ?
There isn't even a "reply" optionWhy ?

Unfortunately, most users coming here may not be forum savvy and do not realize the information they used from a PM might be useful to others.
It is the same with posters that ask their question, get the solution in following posts, then never post back. We can only assume that the issue was resolved and they do not feel the need to post back. If it was not resolved, they usually post back to get other solutions.
I for one could never understand why private messages are used and then no further info given for the community.
I would think that many users here including myself would benefit from the solution and continued discussion without of course any private or confidential info being disclosed.
You would have to filter just the unanswered posts or posts with no solution. And not all threads that do have a solution are marked with a solution. Those threads should be saved so the forum search could point a new user to a solution to their issue. This makes automatic deletions very difficult.
@SteveP I have seen this as well, and, often wondered, why the forums doesn't have an automatic deletion of closed posts when they close automatically not having a response in at least 30 days. Conversely. As an example to the link you provided, I can tell you what I have also seen. When a Norton employee responds to the OP there is a private message, most times the issue gets resolved within that continued private conversation. Logs are shared, other private information for the employee to assist would possibly be shared. It would be the responsibility of the original poster to then go to their post and provide a solution to their issue and mark the thread as solved accordingly. An employee cannot do that and Admins won't as well. Just what I have seen throughout the time I have been assisting here. You are correct that a cleanup of old posts most definitely in order.

Okay...we'll watch for reply from admins.
Thanks

Well what was the resolution? No-one knows, so why even keep it on this forum - waste of time, storage and money.
Waste of my time to even look for examples. To be honest; I was hoping for a more positive and constructive reply from the admins.
