I am continually getting notifications from ‘Norton’ and also emails from ‘Norton’ telling me that I have to update my billing information in order to continue with protection. There are no changes to the billing info used last year, and I was hacked Dec. 28, 2023 and my whole email file cleaned out, etc…but Norton was able to access my account to withdraw proper charges last July; but for past four-five months I’ve been getting these notifications and emails telling me to update my billing information. I don’t trust the source…it looks legit…who is there to contact that IS legit that I can discuss this with. I’m a 78 year old, not much up on tech stuff.
@GeorgieMT Please validate the messages you are getting as being from a sender on the list in this article: *If the sender does NOT appear on the list in this article it is faked.

Sorry to bother you again, but…when it says to go to your ‘browser search’ and type in one of those valid norton sites, is that the place on top of page for a google search, for example. I use Firefox, and usually use Google. I put in @mails.norton.com and it took a long time for the search to complete, and when it did, it said I was on https only mode, and that site was not secure. How is that possible that a Norton site is not secure? What am I doing wrong?
Are you using the second linked site? If so these are the selections that are available, which one are you referring to?

I see what you are referring to. No, you don’t need to use your web browser to search for one of those addresses. If your email sender is not in the list below then its not legit.
SA
No, I’m using the first linked site…to verify that an email is from Norton…and there is a long list of sites that are legit Norton…one is @mails.norton.com My question is very basic and perhaps laughable to most, but what is the browser search…where is it, in plain language on my computer screen…is it where it says: https: etc. Will a google search tell me if that site is legit?
So…if the email or notification is from one of those @ sites on the OK legit list, then I should trust it? I still question WHY Norton keeps saying that I need to update my billing information when NOTHING has changed and they got money out of my credit card in July 2024, and now it’s only early June, and they are hounded me again for this updated billing info.
A browser search is within the URL bar of the web browser you use to surf the internet. I don’t recommend using it since a typo can take you to websites that will download malware. Your URL bar is where the arrow is in the screenshot below.

Most likely Norton is trying to get you to reenable automatic renewal. The nagging for renewal usually starts more than 45 days prior to the end of your current subscription end date. I ignore those messages and just delete them when they come. I never keep payment information on file.
SA
OK. Thanks. You have been very kind and helpful. I also do not want to keep any payment info on file, but how do I stop it? Norton is the only place that has and keeps my credit card info on file, which I do not like, but allow it because they set it up that way so that they can take automatic renewal payments without permission, save for the email sent out. My renewal date is actually in mid August…and they have been hounding me with ‘notifications’ boxes at the bottom right side of my screen, with alarming ‘warnings’ of what terrible things will befall me if I don’t update my billing information…even though it has not changed since the last time they took money from my credit card. Just don’t like the ‘harrassment’. Makes me feel uncomfortable and not trusting of Norton. Thanks again. 10-4
Yes!!
Norton bills up to 60 days in advance of the date your current subscription ends. Your subscription is due to end this July if you got it for one year. The messages for billing info are as I said before, to get you to add that information for automatic subscription renewal. Sorry if weren’t clear when my post before.

And you are most welcome, glad to help.

BTW…have you any connection to Norton? I ask because it might be helpful to get the message to the company that all of these ‘phoney’ and ‘false’ WARNINGS of impending doom months before a subscription expires (mid August in my case) gives the wrong impression of the company and makes this user feel it isn’t ‘legitimate’. WHY deal with customers that way?
Can you please try to straighten them out??
Although I don’t work for Norton as an employee, we Guru’s, can and do escalate threads where customer service isn’t getting the issues resolved. That being said, Norton employees do visit and read the forums threads from time to time. And Norton is well aware of the issues being posted around the forums. Their management and marketing teams appear to be the biggest issue with changes not coming regarding issues with pestering popups, etc. We Guru’s only have so much swagger with those teams.
