Auto-renewal taken 5 weeks before subscription ends

For years I’ve been using Norton products and I’ve usually remembered to cancel the auto-renewal well before the annual subscription runs out. This year I forgot and I got charged £99.99 five whole weeks before my subscription runs out. Fortunately I’ve managed to get £20 back by phoning their helpline on 0800 331 6004.
This is a sharp business practice. The April 2024 edition of PC Pro magazine describes Norton 360 Premium (my product) as having “…a confusing range of price tiers and an obnoxious renewals process”. Too right.
Previously, when I’ve cancelled auto-renewal I’ve found that Norton would offer me better and better deals as my subscription expiry date drew near.
I would give up on Norton altogether, but I use the password manager a lot and I guess I’m too lazy to change.
The number one rule when using any Norton product, as far as I’m concerned, is always remember to disable the auto-renewal early.

You ae 100% correct that you should disable auto renew asap.

You also should know that you do not a Norton subscription to keep your Norton Password Manager. All that is needed is to keep your Norton Account open.

NPM is free to anyone with an account.

Many thanks for that. I didn’t know that you don’t need an active subscription to use Password Manager.
