The option to cancel the purchase of the extended download was there....you just missed it.

 

They automatically add the option and leave it to the buyer to "opt out".

 

Bet they get alot of extended download purchases that wat!

There's probably a lot of people who don't backup as often as they should.  I make at least two backup copies immediately after purchasing and make sure they work after doing so just in case a disc fails.  I'd hate to have to purchase the program again.

 

This is another reason why I think the download price should be cheaper than the boxed version because you're not getting a disc with the program.  You're just getting it faster, but have to supply your own disc(s).  Some sites let you download a program for up to a year or even longer without paying extra for it.

Thanks for your info/comments.  I was probably going on autopilot when I renewed as I hate dropping that cash to begin with and then missed it.  My fault for missing it, but I think it's still pretty sneaky for them automatically opt you in for the extra purchase.  Won't happen again next year, that's for sure!
