This is my second question. The user expressed a desire to have Ghost automatically clear old backups so her drive wouldn't fill up, requiring manual intervention.
We went into "Manage Backup Destination", selected 85% as the disk-full threshold, selected "Automatically optimize storage", and unchecked "Delay changes until next backup".
Within a few minutes she got a dialog box, "Clean Up Recovery Points" with one recovery pointset listed, showing a date range of 5/28/2009 to 11/22/2009. We checked the box in front of this item, then checked the "Automatically optimize without prompting me" box.
A warning dialog then popped up, saying "You have chosen to delete all recovery points in this destination... you will no longer be protected... are you sure? Of course, we clicked "No".
Why did it want to delete all recovery points? The drive-based backup method she is using is "Recovery Point Set" which means it is incremental. Her target-drive directory shows her base file (.v2i) dated 5/28/2009, and 14 .iv2i files, the last one dated 11/22/2009.
What went wrong?
Thanks.
