What gives?  The AvastScanDump.txt file looks like a "calling-home" telemetry-spy-dump.  

C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Norton\AvastScanDump.txt

Anyone knows more?  Not sure I want Avast stuff on my drive regardless of the Norton-Avast tie-up.

Thanks for swift reply!  You are right, I just checked it out.  However, running QuickScan does not create or modify this dump file.  Still not sure what the purpose of the file is other than to call home.  At any rate, good to know!

AvastScanDump.txt file is created when I run Smart Scan. 
AvastScanDump.txt file 'Date modified' changes when I run Smart Scan.
