Hello @Christine8
VPN, as you know, can slow down your internet connection/speed and increase latency because your internet traffic goes through the VPN server.
Common Reasons for slow internet connection/speed.
Distance to the server:
The farther you are from the VPN server, the longer it takes for data to travel, increasing latency.
Server load:
Too many users connected to the same VPN server can overload it, leading to slower speeds.
Encryption level:
Stronger encryption is more secure but requires more processing power, which can slow your connection.
Your internet connection:
The overall speed of your home internet connection affects how well a VPN performs.
VPN infrastructure:
The quality of your VPN provider’s servers and network infrastructure can impact your speed.

Troubleshooting Steps to Speed Up Your VPN:
Switch servers: Select a server that is geographically closer to your actual location or one with a lower load percentage.
Use a wired connection: A wired Ethernet connection is generally faster and more stable than Wi-Fi.
Restart your equipment: Reboot your modem, router, and your device to clear out temporary issues.
Update your VPN and device: Install the latest updates for your VPN app and your operating system.
Try a different VPN protocol: Some protocols, like WireGuard, are designed to be faster than others, such as OpenVPN.
Temporarily disable security software: Firewalls and antivirus programs can sometimes slow your connection. Test your VPN speed with them temporarily turned off.
