Backup problem - Failed: Out of Space

I have been fighting this issue with Tech Support for 3 weeks without any resolution.  When I run backup, the Advanced Details screen shows three "Failed: Out of Space" messages.  I have over 500gb of free space on my external drive and the total of the three .avi files is 10gb.  Why these files fail to back up is a mystery. HELP!!!

Please provide the following information:

- Your Operating System

- Your version of Norton 360

- Model/Type of external drive to which you are trying to run backup

- Screenshot of the error message.

I had the same problem.  I believe it is to do with the file system format of the backup drive (usb drives default to a format of FAT 32 rather than NFTS and so can only handle a maximum of 4GB file sizes).  See http://www.cknow.com/cms/articles/why-cant-i-copy-a-large-file-despite-having-larger-free-space.html for further information.

Good thought about FAT32 although from XP onwards you can't format that large a drive in FAT32 using Windows but have to use a third party application, from what I've just found on Google.

Let's see what he says.

Hi Rowlandsb,
