When reinstalling Norton the original backup set is missing and the dialog only shows an empty backup set. Connecting On-line shows the original backup set but this in not visible in the backup set drop down. This seems to be a relatively new bug.

Many thanks again PeterWeb for your explanation of this unsatisfactory Norton product functionality. I will try to escalate it further with support.
May we leave this thread open in case others wish to add their experiences.
Unfortunately, this is the way the reinstall process has worked for a number of years now. Norton has been informed many times in these forums about this user's concerns with this issue. So, currently, Norton sees nothing wrong with the product.
To see the backup set in the new 360 installation, you need to start a Restore. Then choose to view all backup sets and that will bring up all backup sets in your Account, including the one from the previous 360 installation.
Many thanks bjm and peterweb. However recreating the backup sets takes a lot of time at 8Mb/s upload and should not be necessary.
Previous versions of the product did not function in this way. I've had Norton for at lest 20 years. The original backup set was always linked to the reinstalled app. Further the other online backup sets are not visible in the backup set drop down in the app dialog.
Support have acknowledged this as an issue an spent a cumulative total of 6 hours trying to resolve without success. It has now been escalated to level 2 and I await a call sometime.
Is there anyway to escalate issues like this to Norton development please?
It has been suggested a few times now that a reinstall would save access to any existing backup sets. No changes yet.
As bjm_ notes, you can access the files already in the cloud storage either from your Norton Account, or from the backup restore function in the newly installed 360.
After setting up the new backup set, you might need to delete the old backup set from your Norton account to make room in the online storage for the new backups. To do this, log into your Norton Account and click on View Backup Sets in the Cloud Backup pillar. Then click on the trash can beside the old backup set to remove it and make room.
FWIW ~ when I've reinstalled my Norton 360.
My previous created/saved backups are only available online.
I've needed to re-create/re-save my backup sets after I've reinstalled my Norton 360.
Incidentally Support spent a total of 6 hours on this but were not able to resolve the issue.
