General Average:

I have the same problem.  Hard drive connected to router does not show up on the Where.

Have you mapped the external drive in Windows Explorer. That is the only way Norton's Backup can find the drive.I

I'll check for mapped drive on the other PCs and repost. Thanks for the tip.

All Norton products that have the backup feature support backing up to mapped network drives.  I am not sure why you are not seeing the drive in the available backup locations.  The relevant Norton documentation for network drives says:

You can use this choice if your PC is connected to a local network that offers a storage location to which you have access. Depending on the speed of your network, this choice can be almost as fast as backing up to an internal drive or external drive.

This choice does not appear if your PC is not connected to a network that offers a storage device to which you have access.

To back up your data to an external network drive, you must map the external network drive to your computer. When you map a drive, you must also specify a drive letter for the connection.

For your problem. Does the mapped drive show up in Windows Explorer on the computers that it does not show in Norton Backup? You have to map the drive on each computer.

@floplot

I am using either Norton Security Deluxe with Backup or Norton Security Premium with Backup. My Purchase History shows Deluxe (which supports 5 devices) but My Account shows I am using 3 seats out of 10 used which would indicate Premium. Uploading screenshot of the latter.

Backup works with one PC but not the other two PCs in my HomeGroup which do not show the mapped network drive. Those two PCs do not show the mapped network drive in the Backup Set Where pull-down.

Hello jlconrod

Are you using Norton Internet Security with Backup or do you mean you are using Norton Security with Backup? Norton Internet Security does not come with backup. With the older line of products, only N360 has the Backup feature.

Thanks.

I have a Win 10 Anniversary Updated computer that is using Norton Security With Backup and it is backing up to a mapped drive on my home server. Just tried the backup and it worked just fine.

When you are trying to set the Where portion of the setup, do you see the mapped drive listed? You may have to scroll down the list, depending on how many drives you have on your system.

Are you getting an error when you try to use the mapped drive? If so, can you post a screenshot to help us diagnose the problem.
