Basic FTP help question

Hello,

I have Norton 360, Filezilla 3.5.3, Windows 7 64bit, and need to be sure my FTP setup is secure. I didn't realize I should have SFTP, and not just FTP. Can anyone direct me on how to configure Filezilla for security? Do I need another ftp program? Does Norton 360 secure it already by default? (I don't think so.) Do I need to configure Norton? Add something on my pc? Can someone point me to the right docs or provide a few basic steps? Any help is appreciated.

By the way, this is the first time I'm posting so I hope it is in the right place. Thank you.

If you are downloading with Filezilla or a browser, Norton will protect you any time you try to access the files you have downloaded.

Peter, Thanks - but I think I understood that part. My concern is that, I read that Filezilla sends the passwords unencrypted when communicating with the server. I also read that it saves the passwords in the registry, if checked to save passwords. So I unchecked that and enter the passwords manually each time. But I don't know how to use Filezilla with encrypted passwords. I keep seeing that I need SFTP, not FTP, but I can't find any instructions on how to set up SFTP. I need a secure way to connect to my server, on all points.

I cannot help with FTP or SFTP. There is no setting in Norton products for that.

You may want to see if there is a forum for Filezilla, and ask those questions there.
