When I joined this forum I once showed up as a member. Now I show up as a regular visitor when I am online. How can I become a member again?

Allen ,

How can a forum rank change from one to another ? based on total logins, total minutes online , total posts, total messages read or others ? I was curious about this.  :-)

Hello znmng,

The answer to your question is "yes".  All of those things are part of the ranking forumla.  So is getting Kudos, giving kudos and have solutions marked as accepted.   Also the process is automatic, not manual, and the actual formula is secret and highly classfied.  You have a better chance of finding out the 11 herbs and spices in the colonel's chicken....

Allen,

I know the lowest forum rank is the newbie.....How about the highest ??

znmng :-)

Just do a lot of contributions and you will see

Thanks!  I was wondering the same thing.

I saw by mijcar the rank Super Contributor... I think this could be the highest, but not sure, maybe it's a special, not automatic rank, like Guru.

Well, as you can see, I have 1,400-odd Posts and still a Regular Contributor.  :(

I was a Super Contributor for about 12hours, and then got put back down to Reg. Contributor.

There are actually alot of ranks that haven't been seen yet.    The only hint I can give is:  there is more than 10 ranks that have not been seen yet :smileysurprised:

To advance in rank it's best to read and post in more than one board :smileysurprised:    Another hint I can give is that it's good to 'give' as well as 'receive' Kudo's.   (please review the Kudo's annoucement and FAQ about when it's appropriate to give kudo's.)

In fact, click your login name 2 lines above the search box above and study the stats that the forum keeps on each user, most of the stats are used in the secret ranking formula. :smileywink:  (You will have to look at your own profile, and not another users for this because you can only see your own stats.)

So far we have seen:

Super Contributor

Regular Contributor

Contributor

Regular Visitor

Visitor

Newbie

The NEXT rank that we may see soon is Spyware Scolder.

It depends on how you interact in the Forum.

Just look at how many Posts I've got compared to Phil; I enjoy helping people which is one of the main reasons my Posts are so high.  :)

And why is he "nuts"?

Actually yes!

If you click your display/login name in the upper left section of any forums page (2 lines above the search box), you will be able to see all the stats that are kept.   The secret formula uses most of those at some point or another...

Just participate, be active and your rank will advance!!!

So if we post 500-1000 post, and give every second post a kudo, we will get the next rank earlyer....

Interesting :D :D

As I seen this kudo thing is something like in other forum engines the Karma mod. If you have more post, you get more karma, and of course others can make it higher.

But what's the good with it? With karmas they can hide some special topics, but here I think nothing... Or you just hide some interesting beta test? :P :P :P :D :D :D Conspiracy, conspiracy, conspiracy.... :D :D :D

Edit: Is in the formula the registration date, and how many post you wrote since that (so how fast you were), and usually how many post you write on a day too?
