Thanks for the heads-up on RAM Apostolos - already running REALLY slow. Takes nearly 2 minutes for the system to power up and, when it "sleeps" (screen goes blank) takes over a minute to wake up again. Will talk to my techie.
In the meantime, looks like I'll need to get him in again to find hidden files but will have a go later today after my visitors have gone.

Decided to try the easy option first and just do a search. This is what came up (there are many more pages but will give you an idea).

Do you have a laptop or desktop? (since dxdiag reports OEM, it's most likely a laptop).
With CPU, you are more or less ok, it's not the main problem.
Adding at least 2 GB of compatible RAM and maybe an SSD will definitively increase your system speed.
Also, what GPU model do you have and what driver version, I suppose that the tech removed the old XP driver and installed a W7 x64 compatible, and hopefully not from Windows Update.
Let me know the requested details if possible.

Looks like you found what you need. IIRC, the IDDStor2 is the file you need to Import into a working version of NIS with ID Safe already set up. Also since that is present, it appears you did in fact have a Local Vault. I agree with Quads that you sholod make a copy of the IDDStor2 file and rather than taking a chance on the "Old Data" attempt to Import the copy of that file.
As a bit of more info - I believe the first entry on your image is the main path which will include the entires below it - the S-1-5-21 etc folder is part of the first entry and the IDDstor2 and IDDStore2.bak are entries in it.
I would make a copy of the Norton folder, so that all folders and files inside that are backed up
C:\OLD DATA\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Norton This then means we have a backup of the Norton folder just in case.
For the actual transfer or importing of the data across and into the C:\ProgramData................\Norton folder for the installed Norton on the Windows 7 machine etc. That is outside of my specialised area, so up to others, or a Symantec Employee in that area for the actual hopefully successful transfer. Just not my area. I just gave a heads up to the location of the store folders and files.
For Windows 7 it is C:\ProgramData not Documents and Settings
As to the system speed and hardware it could be not only the RAM, bur other hardware like Motherboard and CPU may not have been created with Windows 7 around so that there are no Drivers for the Motherboard / Graphics for Windows 7 from the manufacturer, although Windows 7 could be using its own Microsoft drivers instead, just means the hardware may not be going at its optimium.

FWIW - Quads, the IDDStor2 file I referred to is the file I suggested be copied to another folder and then after the installation of NIS on the Win 7 system, the Import function of ID Safe can be used to browse to the copied folder and Import it the .dat file.
Sure you can copy the entire folder, but the only file needed is the IDDStor2 - that is why I suggested to make a copy of it!
Oh and by using the Import function, there is no hidden files involved as you are using the Import function of NIS's ID Safe.

Ohhh someone who just doesn't get it much either. There is a reason why I say to make a copy of the entire Norton folder so that there is a copy of everything inside. which includes the IDDStor2 file but also everything else is copied also. I am not saying to copy the whole "folder" Norton across but to make a backup of the whole Norton Folder. There is a difference.
I don't need to be given the likes of "FWIW - Quads...................................." because I don't need to know as it is of no use to me.

I know what I can do, and why I say to back up a whole folder and not just one file (it's called forward thinking on possible senarios)
I can do it but I know even though I gave the correct folder path including the All Users in the path I also know there are also people betterthan me in the area of Indentity Safe (Symantec have people that work in just that area of Identity Safe also ;) but they don't deal with the SSR or the cleaning engine for malware.
It is much better to just copy the Norton folder of everything inside for reasons I can see in my head,
Seeing as " it is all yours Quads " then I suggest the thread creator may wait until after Easter and hope that a Symantec Employee in the Indentity Safe area of Symantec when the come back to work to help with the transfer (after the fact) due to OS upagrade and anything to do with that folder,

Firstly, thank you for your advice - much appreciated. Am now back to where I was before the system upgrade wrt Identity Safe. I had to re-enter some stuff but managed to salvage a lot too. I must admit I'm still confused by this vault stuff and had to fiddle around a lot to get a password that it liked. When my brain isn't so addled, I must try to work out what's changed but, at the moment, I'm just relieved and enjoying the IS facility again.
