I would like to have the feature to block all network traffic just with two mouse clicks. I think this can be done by creating an additional menuitem in the system tray for this.
ps: the same for 360 as well ;)

We used to have a setting like this in a previous release but we removed to give space to other features that we thought are used more often by users. Can you please give us some examples on when you use this option and how often?
Other members’ votes will weigh on this too
I think this can be used when you want to scan the PC in cases you think you have virus(es), and you are connected eg. to a LAN network, and no way to disconnect, only to plug out the cable.
The same when you want to play games, watch videos, and you can not disconnect again.
And I read some messages here from users that they could stop some infections (rouge programs) if they could stop all network traffic just with a fast step.
I think option is good but for me it isn't so useful. For me easier to turn off internet.

I want this feature too. It's easy to control the network traffic with ZoneAlarm and Comodo, but Norton requires you to go several layers deep to do this (assuming you can remember how to do it)
It's tempting to keep Comodo installed (but disabled) alongside Norton just to be able to quickly stop the net if one thinks that suspicious activity is going on.
I approve this idea. But my question is, how this feature works now? Is it disabling somehow driver for network card or what?
I miss the easy access of this feature from the taskbar.

Could help isolate infected pc's in a network - with the amount of home networks now-a-days, very useful! Could also nearly be a "panic button"? i.e. Something thinks they are being hacked, or port-scanned, they simply right click on Norton and close all connections, and thats that.
Once in a while I get paranoid about something happening on one of my machines and I want to shut down Internet access quickly while I test to see what may be running. I don’t necessarily want to take down the whole network by pulling the router power supply, just temporarily protect the one machine. Getting to the ethernet cable on the back is not easy or quick. When I was using free ZoneAlarm + NAV, it was easy. The tray icon for ZA had a choice to block the Internet immediately. Now I’m using NIS 2010 and it seems that I have to open the program and go through several steps that are not all that self evident.
PS: I don’t think REMOVING protections quickly via the taskbar is nearly as useful as maximizing protection via an Internet block.
I like this idea too, as having used Zone Alarm, and now PCTools Firewall, both having that option, it make it a nice feature, as mattsegers said, a quick "panic button" option. My new Laptop does have a WLAN disconnect button, but it would still be a nice feature for older laptops.
Yup please add a shortcut to it so that we can access it via the system tray menu
Please RESTORE this function!!!. This is exactly the way it worked a few years ago --circa 2004 or 2006 versions.
All the ideas and comments behind this topic referred to disabling incoming and outgoing network traffics from the computer. As everyone of us aware that we do have network activity status in system tray which has the option to disable the network traffic in and out of the computer. I would suggest to make use of this feature instead of adding a new feature to Norton interface front panel. Adding this feature in Norton would cause difficult time who uses the computer without adequate knowledge. (rather they would like to click on all links available in new product which has been installed :( )
I like this idea, everyone else offers it. As for the network status icon in the tray, nothing newer than XP offers the option to disable from the tray, so for those of us on a modern OS, it is not redundant. Besides, disabling a network interface vs. blocking traffic are different things with different results. No reason not to do it. Or, Norton could do like one of their competitors (that I won’t name) and have a standard/advanced interface option, where the advanced would offer options like this and the standard would not.
I would like to see this option available by right clicking on the Norton Icon in the systme tray.
I use the NIS "Block All Network Traffic" funtion quit regualarly when I leave my computer, and it would be nice to have this option quickly available at the Norton task bar icon, than to have to search for it thru the Network Menu.
Thanks,

I previously requested this feature about 2 years ago.
Like Zaede, I also remember when it was a Norton feature.
It was very handy if you suddenly realise you are downloading malware or there is an unexpected large volume of traffic between your PC and the net.
Add it to the right click menu of the notification area icon you should.
Regards
I also remember this feature from the older days.
I miss it and definitely want it back.

I suggested this in the Norton 2012 beta forum.
Perhaps, there can be an option to have such "Advanced" features enabled either by:
1. A switch in Settings
2. By having the Advanced interface pinned.
Example of Switch
Feature | On/Off |
---------------------------------------
Block All Traffic | On |
