Block all traffic when VPN disconnect

Is there a way to set the firewall to block all traffic when I lose my VPN connection?

I have NIS 2010. I want it to block traffic automatically. Is it possible to only block traffic for certain programs like e-mail clients and instant messengers when I lose my VPN connection?

 

Will adding a rule to block specific port that the program uses work? I'm thinking when VPN disconnects, traffic from the program will go through its regular port instead of the VPN port.

I dodn't think there is any way in the firewall rules to pin specific actions to altered circumstances.  The firewall rules are pretty much full on or full off.
