It appears NIS is blocking the DHCP from my router. I get an intrusion alert stating the 192.168.15.1, port 20996 is trying to access. Without this, I cannot access the internet.
Can anyone tell me how I can allow this access? This just started happening and I must admit that I don't why it would have started occurring.
Are you sure this is DHCP? DHCP communications are normally on Ports 67 and 68. Open your Local Area Network in Windows Network Connections and click on the support tab which should show you the IP address of your PC and state if it is assigned by DHCP.

I did a system restore and that seems to have solved the problem, although I did get a pop up saying that the restore failed. Strange....anyhow, before doing the restore, the ip began with 169 (I think...trying to recall from memory). It's now back to the proper 192 range.
