I have facebook in the "Specific Websites To Allow" list and I do NOT have "Discussion & Social Networking" category marked to block, but Facebook is still blocked for my child. I have to log in to the Parental Control and go to Web Settings and just click UPDATE SETTINGS at the bottom. Then the child updates the rules on their computer and it work. I didn't unmark or mark anything on the parents computer, or anything except click Update Settings.
I have to repeat these steps each time the childs computer is rebooted.
I am using version 1.2.0.37

I don't remember it happening before I installed the update. I have four children being monitored, and two of them have Discussion & Social Networking blocked, and two don't.
For what it's worth, I also still get the error message that the service has been disabled, even though it really hasn't. But that's another topic.
gwilliamhouse,
Please update to the latest version. 1.2.0.39, this will probably solve this issue.
Matt
will give that a try. Won’t it automatically update itself now? I thought i read somewhere that it does? Or do i stil have to do an uninstall/reinstall?
You are correct it will "eventually" update itself, however we are in the process right now certifying that part of the new update.
That said, you can do it manually by uninstalling what you have and getting the latest from the OnlineFamily.Norton.com website, right on that homepage there is a "download" link that will get the updated Norton Safety Minder version 1.2.0.39
