I just saw the topic on:

But I just can't reply to that person on the forum. So I started a new topic here.
There's a much simpler workaround to the BSOD. When you mount the non-system partition with TrueCrypt, make sure that the mount options specify that the volume is mounted as a "Removable Medium".
That solves the problem of BSOD. When I mount it as a non-removable medium (i.e. a hard disk), BSOD occurs when I dismount.
Since the other thread is closed, I'll post my update here.
Working with Symantec, Microsoft has reproduced this issue in System Restore and is researching it. They should have an analysis by the end of next week.
Microsoft has found a bug in System Restore that is causing this. It is timing related so some people may experience this problem while others may not. No word on if or when they will be delivering a fix.
