I'm having a couple of problems with NAV, one old, one new.
First the new, yesterday, I attempted to download an old flight simulator software, A2A's WWII Fighters 2 from a web site I'd never been to before. I promptly got a "Dangerous Website Blocked" message from NAV and just as promptly backed out of the website. That isn't the problem. The problem came when I then tried to long on to http://www.pcaviator.com/store/ where upon I got another "Dangerous Website Blocked" message from NAV. PC Aviator is NOT a dangerous website! I, and thousands of fellow flight simulator fans have been shopping at PC Aviator for over 2 decades! What the heck is going on here and, more importantly how can I get NAV to stop blocking PCAviator.com/store claiming it is a dangerous web site?!
Now for the old problem (also flight simulator related). I get FMS (flight Management System) date file updates for a number of aircraft I use in Microsoft Flight Simulator that uses a FMS/FMC (Flight Management Computer) from a Website called Navdata. The data files are updated monthly. Until 4 or 5 years ago I never had a problem unzipping data files and running the installer that installs the database updates for each aircraft. Navdata updated the installer a few years ago and ever since I've had a problem using the database updates. What happens is when I unzip the installer for each file NAV promptly pounces on it and deletes it claiming that it is an Insight Network Threat (WSReputation.1). For years I thought NAV was erroneously detecting a virus in the files. I recently complained on Navdata's user forum about this and was told that it isn't a virus but apparently because there are a relatively handful of users (rather than zillions) NAV treats the Navdata files as a threat. I've had to restore to turning NAV's auto-protect off in order to run the Navadata installer for each update then turning it back on after I'm done updating the FMS/FMC databases on each of the 11 aircraft I have that uses a FMS/FMC. This works but it leaves my system open to being infected with a virus for the 10-15 minutes it takes to do this. To say I'm not happy about this problem with either of these problems is a colossal understantment!
