Boot Time Protection Norton 2012

Why Boot Time Protection is completly disabled by Default in Norton 2012 Real Time Setting ?

OFF

Turns off the Enable Boot Time Protection option.

Turning off the Enable Boot Time Protection option reduces the level of protection of your computer.

By default, this option is selected.

We have 3 Settings , disabled Normal and Aggressive... by Default the Setting should "Normal".

Fix it  with the next Product Update. !

in my opinion these Setting

Aggressive
Lets you configure Norton Internet Security to perform maximum protection during your computer start time.
It ensures complete protection during the boot time as Auto-Protect starts functioning as soon as you start your computer.

its better against Rootkits , we see in languy99 videos that Norton have problems with Rootkits..

Ok thanks for the heads up bro! :D

What Norton product and version number are you using? Thanks.

I am using NIS 2012, version 19.1.0.28.  I'm a little confused though.  I originally installed NIS 2012 from disc, then had several problems which ultimately required a Norton Tech Support agent to download NIS v. 19.1.0.28 from the Norton site.  Is the disc version different than the one I have now?  I clicked on "New Version Check" in the "Support" section, but all I got was a blank page with the error message "The connection was reset.." etc.

Strange but upon restarting computer this morning, Boot-Time Protection option now is green and works.

Hello atrewsfan

The version on your CD is going to remain static with the version that the program started with. Throughout the year that NIS 2012 is considered as the newest product and occasionally even after that time, Norton comes out with new versions. The best place to find out about these versions is to come to these forums. When a new version comes out, there is a notice on top giving the version number and some of the changes being made.

If you ever have to reinstall the program during the year, we have a link which you can use so that you don't have to go thru all the various updates to get current. This will also work if you get another computer and your license is for more than 1 computer, it's best to get the link from us in this case also. Thanks.

There is a post on the Comodo forum where Zeroaccess ambled right through the Defense + without a backward look.  We don't see that much in languy99 videos. :smileywink:
