I want to remove the startup drive from a Windows XP computer and attach it to another computer via USB, back it up using Ghost, then use that image to restore onto a different drive and be able to boot from that restored image.
I've tried this, restoring via the Ghost recovery boot CD, and all I get is a blinking cursor after the computer goes through POST and BIOS. I've tried then repairing that restored OS image, but when I select that Windows installation to repair from the WinXP install CD, it just goes to the same blinking cursor.
Is there any way to do this, or do I have to perform the backup from the live OS I want to be able to restore and boot?
