I just installed Norton Ghost 14 today and did three complete backups: From my C: Drive (system drive), my external L: Drive (USB) and external M: Drive (USB). All three recovery points reside on another external USB Drive (G:) reserved for backups only.
In order to test using the recovery disk, I moved the contents of my L: drive to a new folder on my C: drive. The L: Drive was then empty.
I powered my computer off, then powered on the backup G: Drive and connected the external usb device where the L: drive resides.
The I powered my computer back on and pressed F12 at bootup so that the computer would boot from the CD-ROM drive. I inserted the NG recovery disc and pressed enter.
The bootup went fine and it went into the Norton Ghost 14 environment. But it said that no recovery points were found, even though my G: Drive was powered on. I tried everything I could to see if it could be located but to no avail. So I removed the disc, restarted my computer, and went to Norton's website to find out how to contact them by phone.
After being connected to a very nice tech person, I tried the whole process again while on the phone with her. This time, all three recovery points appeared and I was able to select the one from which I wanted to restore. The restore went perfectly and my L: drive was re-populated again.
Now each time, both the backup G: Drive and the target L: Drive were connected.
Can anyone provide me with some insight as to why no recovery points were found the first time but were found the 2nd time I booted with the recovery disc?
Thanks in advance.
