Beware!

 

My browsers IE11 and Firefox 25.0 were both hijacked by a supposed news app from news.net.

My desktop was also hijacked.

Do you still have a problem or did you deal with it?

Hello Hugh,

 

I managed to deal with it by:

 

a) removing the addon in FF

b) disabling the addon in IE

However program immediately tried to reinstall the FF addon.

I used Advanced Uninstaller Pro to remove the app.

 

NIS reported a statistical submission, but it did not giv me the option to flag the app as probable malware.

I don't know enough about the beasts to know whether or not you may still have dangerous left-overs .....
