I have a browser hijacker that is driving me crazy. It hijacks searches from Google or Norton Search. Redirects to another ad site.
I downloaded Norton 360 yesterday and performed a complete 5 hour scan. That didn't help. My computer is now running much slower.
I downloaded HiJackthis and delete 2 items which I googled and found to be adware. But it hasn't solved the problem and I have reached my technical limit.
One option is to restore my system to last week but is there another way and would that work?

It appears to go to a different search engine each time. Juggle, Bing, adsclicksor.com or an advertising site for example. Even when I click on a known link such as deltahotels.com. To get back to the results I have to do to the back pull down bar where there is a blank line prior to my google results page.
No sounds or other strange behaviour. This started before I downloaded the norton update. I had an old norton product running because I was having problems with conflicts with my work server. This version appears to work okay with my work software.
No high risk activities in the log. A couple of medium blocked risks.
Can I just go back to a previous register backup and would I have to re-download norton? It was working fine on Saturday.
Check if it detects any threats and if it does, please provide us the filename and other details. Don't fix any files now, you can fix those after getting confirmation in this thread.
I ran the eraser and it didn't find anything. Today my google searches are working for now but it has done that before. My system is still much slower than normal.
That's pretty cool and makes the log much easier to read. I went through the list and for the most part, the questionable ones look okay and are things I ligitimately have on my desktop.

My searches are still working so fingers crossed.
Thanks
I was remiss earlier...

FWIW ~ IMO a scan with Secunia OSI or PSI would produce interesting results.
Cheers
As you know the HijackThis Online Analyzer is just a Tool - Not the solution.
