Suddenly I am getting notice flag up "Homepage or Default Search Change " come up.

 

I find this is coming from a nasty program called BrowserProtect. It is in Document and Settings / AllUsers folder.

 

I tried to delete the file but it will not let me delete the BrowserProtect.dll saying it was in use.

 

On the internet there is some details of this virus or Malewear.

 

Is there a way to remove this ??

Looks like you picked up something not good.

 

Please register with one of the below Removal Forums. You will work with a trained professional in malware and virus removal. You will work one on one in real time. Please finish with the person you start with.

 

Some of the forums require that once you start with them, you do not contact other sources on your infection(s) until your computer is clean. By doing so, they may drop your case.

I have had the same thing, and like you, was unable to delete the problem files or kill the running processes.

While searching for answers online I came across a utility called "AdwCleaner", recommended on malwaretips.com at this link

I just downloaded it and ran it. When I clicked on undelete (after closing all other programmes) the programme restarted the PC and on startup a popup asked me if I wanted to run the utility.

I clicked on yes and after a short time it generated a text log file of all the things it had found and deleted - 4 pages.

 

On checking, all traces of BrowserProtect has gone along with Yontoo, Babylon and Delta Search engine Hijacker!

 

It is early days yet, I only did it 30 mins ago, but at the moment all seems fine.
