Browser Ransomware not beeing detected by Norton Internet Security

I seem to have a ransomware on my computer wich keeps redirecting every site I try to visit from my web browser (Google Chrome) to the following fraudulent site: http:/ /law-enforcement-tqvrlbqb.in/ [...]

I ran a quick scan and a full scan with Norton Internet Security (properly updated) and it did not detect any thread, yet the ransomware remained. I then used Norton Power eraser to run a full scan. It also found no threats so I ran the Norton Power Eraser reputation scan targeting the Users folder and it then detected some files it removed, but the ransomware remained.

I uninstalled Google Chrome and reinstalled it but the ransomware keeps redirecting me to the fraudulent site. I have disabled javascript to be able to browse without it redirecting me, since it seems to do so using javascript.

I would like to know what I am missing, why my Norton product does not seem to be doing it's job, since it did not prevent the drive by download of the malware and does not even detect it, and how I should proceed to get rid of the malware problem.

Thank you beforehand.
