Browser Search Hijack

Running Windows 11 fully updated, and picked up a browser search hijacker which keeps setting the default search engine and the address bar search engine to "search-boss" or "search-goose". This is happening for all browsers in use including Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Opera and Brave. I can reset back to the desired search engines but later in the day or after a reboot the problem will reappear. Interestingly, when i go into browser settings to reset the search, the malware is sneaky in that it labels the redirect to search-boss as "Google".

I have repeatedly used to Norton 360, Norton Power Eraser, Malwarebytes, SpyHunter and Windows Defender to try to locate the problem and none of the programs have found anything. I have also carefully searched through the installed apps and have found nothing unknown or suspicious. Besides being annoying, i am concerned that I may be exposing myself to greater consequences while i have the problem.

Thanks for any help you can offer! Alex

It takes a little while depending on your drive. When it "find" stuff during scanning. Don't be alarmed at the end it will validate...

delete/uninstall all browers. Then manually search your drives on maps & leftovers from every browser. I did it once. removed every file with mozilla & firefox(i was using firefox). Those files linger around in many maps & places. after that a clean browser install. Make sure you don't accidently remove wrong or importent windows files.

Try disabling all browser extensions and see if you still see the issue.

If that stops the issue, try turning on one or two at a time until you find the one that causes the issue.
