Hello all,
On my new computer, I experience consistent BSOD whenever NIS scans my hard disk. (quick scan or full scan, doesn't matter)
The BSOD is Stop 0x0000124 which points to a "hardware" related issue, and a "machine check" exception.
I had Norton support log in to my desktop and look at it, and his conclusion was it was a "driver issue" All he did was go into the device manager, and select update drivers even though the message box said "drivers were already up to date".
He proceeded to go ahead with the scan, and for that instance, it seemed to work fine. But the problem is back again.
I have Geforce GTX 6600, Gigabyte GX170 Gaming 5 motherboard (Z170), Intel I7-6700K, 16GB RAM on Windows 7 SP1 with the latest updates installed.
The system is not overclocked and the temps are fine.
I've noticed after googling that people seem to be pointing at the nvidia drivers, but I've got another older system with the same drivers and same version of Norton and that computer seems fine.
I've ran memory diagnostics utility, and it checked out fine.
I'm running out of ideas.
