Are you Norton 360 VPN or standalone Norton VPN?

I have Norton 360 Deluxe antivirus.

Are you 100% sure disabling the VPN service won’t affect any other part of the product?

Hello @user36141
I’ve not tested Norton 360 with VPN Service Disabled.
Do you want me to test Norton 360 client with VPN Service Disabled?
May I ask – Why you’d want VPN Service Disabled-- since Auto Connect & Reconnect after restarting and all VPN Settings may be turned off.

=========================

fwiw ~ as test:

  • Stopping the Norton VPN service should stop the VPN subsystem and any active VPN connection.
  • Disabling the Norton VPN service should prevent Secure VPN from functioning.
  • I would not expect it to affect Auto-Protect, Smart Firewall, Intrusion Prevention, Safe Web, or other core Norton protection layers.

fwiw ~ at this time:

Norton VPN Service does not appear to be mission critical to Norton 360’s core protection functions.

The caveat I’d keep in mind is that I’ve tested the UI behavior and status reporting. I haven’t necessarily proven there are zero side effects elsewhere. For example, a future LiveUpdate, product repair, or version upgrade could decide the service should be restored.

On my Norton 360 v26.5.x, disabling Norton VPN Service affects the Secure VPN feature but does not appear to affect overall Norton protection status. However, because this is not a documented configuration, future product updates or repairs may choose to restore the service or otherwise expect it to be available.
