I recently upgraded my Windows 7 Pro system with a Samsung 850 Evo SSD. What neither the products reviews nor the Samsung documentation told me is that the Windows backup utility would be silently disabled, apparently to limit writes to the C: drive. There is apparently no workaround available for this issue.
I tried using the Norton 360 Backup utility as an alternative. The utility successfully backed up the files to a local external drive, but then failed with an error indicating that access to C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton 360]Engine64\buvss.exe was unauthorized.
Apparently as a result, Restore Files shows only a few dozen random files that are available in the backup set.
How can I grant Norton 360 access to its own buvss.exe file? (I am assuming that the Samsung SSD installation software has not blocked this program for running as well.)
