Bypass Time Restriction

Hi,

Norton Family in installed in Mi Note under Android.

However, upon time restriction, my kid is able to bypass and continue to use the internet.

Pls provide any advice.

Hi Alan,

‘App Usage Access’ option will be available only in devices with Android OS version 5.0 and above.

From your last post, you indicated you have v4.4.4 in his device.

For the phone with Android OS 5.0 and above, its generally located at

Settings - Additional settings - Privacy - advanced - Apps with usage access

Can you please check to see if you can find the settings in this location and update please?

Hi

I'd like to join this thread. Son has a Xiami Mi 5 and able to get around this very easily. The following details:

1. accesibility for Norton Family is constantly turned off automatically. Tried to set off memory optimization, battery saving, security, to no avail
2. a simple press 'show all open apps' and then kill them all, kills Norton Family protection

I've paid a good $50 for this, if you could help me solve this ASAP would be great.

Hi Katie,

The Android version of my child phone is Android 4.4.4 KTU84P and is using MIUI Global 8.2.1.0 (KHIMIDL).

There is no App Usage Access in the phone setting.

I am trying to get hold of my child's phone to check. Meanwhile, there is no Tamper alert.

Hi Alan,

Can you please let us know if you, the parent receives a Tamper alert after the child disabled App Usage permission for Norton Family? You can find it at Open Device Settings->Security-> App Usage Access ->Enable for Norton Family

Norton Family requires this permission to monitor Time and App supervision.

We are checking into the uninstallation issue.

Hi Alan,

I assume that you said Mi Note under Android can be uninstalled too.  Do you get any notification after the program is uninstalled?

Can you also please send me your Norton Family account email address by private message via the forum by clicking Inbox at upper right hand corner?

Hi Katie,

The other Norton Family are working fine.

Also, my child is also able to uninstall Norton Family easily - I have tried it myself.

I won't discuss details here.

Hi Alan,

Can you please let us know if other Norton Family features work well for Mi Note?  For example, if you, as a parent log onto the phone as the monitored child and try to access a forbidden website, do you get blocked?

Please check if the following settings are enabled in Child device

  1. Open Device Settings->Security-> App Usage Access ->Enable for Norton Family
  2. Open Device Settings->Accessibility->Norton Family Accessibility Service->Turn ON

Also, please find the details below to turn ON all the permissions in child device

Steps to follow:

  1. Open device Settings->Apps
  2. Select Norton Family->Tap on permissions
  3. Make sure the following permissions are enabled
  • Contacts
  • Location
  • SMS
  • Storage
  • Telephone
