Can I install NAV 2009 *over* NSW 2005 ?

There are components of NSW 2005 that I'd like to keep (ghost, & NU), but I have recently purchased NAV 2009 because of its reputation of no longer being a system hog.

 

1. Can I install NAV 2009 over NSW 2005 without conflict?

2. Does leaving any of NSW 2005 hanging around raise the liklihood of a slower system?
