Before getting Norton Internet Security (which I love so far), I had Malwarebytes (free program) installed but took it off. Now I'd like to either reinstall the free program or get a paid program for Malwarebytes but am not sure if this will conflict with the Norton I already have on the computer. Can I do this or does Norton do that kind of safe checking as well? I'm not sure I understand all that the Norton program does other than it is an antivirus and I don't need two of those on the same computer. Thanks for any help you can give me!

Just a small point, I'm using the full "paid for" version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware along with NIS2013 (and used it with NIS2012 as well) and I have not run into any compatibility problems.
By the way, my O/S is WinXP Pro SP3.

As indicated above the free version is very compatible with your Norton product.
I have read where some are runniing the 'full' version with norton so that there are two active scanners running. They indicate no problem but I wonder if that is rue should they actually be infected. Security products often see other security products as a virus and react accordingly. The other case is that they bolck each other and the infection takes up residence. I'm just not willing to take that risk.

"Norton should get along just fine with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO. We work differently than antivirus software when we run in realtime which dramatically reduces the chances of any conflicts, however, you should also set exclusions for Malwarebytes in Norton as well as in Malwarebytes for Norton to make sure that no conflicts do occur and it also may improve system performance when the two are running together. I have been running MB Pro with NIS 2012 on three systems and have no problems and they do block the bad guys as I have had a few hits. Whenever either system runs a schedualed scan I have seen only tracking cookies so I know my system is clean and has been for years. But its up to you to decide.

Running 2 AVs is not such a good idea. I suggest running the free version of Malwarebytes as it doesn't have an automatic protection along side with NIS.
