Can not disable Auto Protect

Hi i can not disable Auto Protect anymore after reinstalling on my PC, after a clean install of windows 10. I have Admin rights on the PC. I have already discontinued my subscription because of this and will remove completely unless i find a solution.

Kind regards

It is my VPN (Private Internet Access) causing this issue with Norton. Everytime i turn the vpn on the option to disable Auto Protect is greyed out, and i have to reboot to fix it. This is new as i have used the two together for years. Hopefully Norton can fix this.

Hi i have just reinstalled but this time before rebooting i had an idea to prevent my Vpn software from starting automatically at windows start up, this has never been an issue with Norton before but i was out of ideas. And that appears to have fixed the issue. Thanks for the help and Merry Christmas.

Hi no i don't see this in history, I installed Norton on a different drive and the option to disable auto protect was available again. Then i rebooted and the issue is back. Fast start up is definitely turned off in power settings/choose what the power buttons do/ shut down settings.

In Norton History, are there any entries in "Unresolved Security Risks?"

Hi yes that is what i see

Hi yes i am Admin and the only one using the Pc

And you are sure you are using a Windows Admin account? Are there any other options greyed out?

Fast start up is off, i have reinstalled norton and i have run the live update multiple times as you suggested, and the option to disable auto protect is still greyed out.

As you did a clean install of Win 10, have you disabled the Fast Startup feature?  If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.

Be sure you have run LiveUpdate manually a few times, restarting as necessary, until no updates are available.
