Can You Backup the Most Up-To-Date Version of a File Only?

One of my Norton Backup sets has grown to almost max out my allotted storage space. I'm pretty sure it ballooned in size because I marked my appdata folder for backup, and it's due to multiple versions of the same file being stored.

My question, is there any way to force Norton backup to just keep the single updated version of a file (ie not multiple versions from different dates), or does this functionality not exist in the product?

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. I guess above all, Norton is an anti-virus/malware product, with a few other ancillary functions tacked on to it. I use their backup solution as it's included for free.

It would be nice if there was more documentation on it though. From what I can tell, it looks like it maxes out at 10 copies of a file, and I assume would keep deleting the oldest version of a file when a new one is created at that point.

My Norton backup drive in explorer is very buggy/slow. It's hung numerous times with high CPU usage or won't release the CPU, stopped responding, gave me error messages and not deleting things, etc. When viewing my backups online through Firefox, the web page doesn't open properly. I need to use Edge or Chrome to actually see my backup files. Could definitely use some improvements.

Seems ok to use for relatively static files but beyond that, as you said, you would need to use a dedicated product.

Norton does not have the ability to choose the fine details of what gets backed up. You would need to look into a dedicated backup solution to have that ability.

All you could do is go into your backup and see if you can delete any unnecessary files from the online storage.  You can do this from Window Explorer.  Using a Windows Admin account, open Explorer and click on This PC in the left pane. Then double click on Norton Backup Drive in the right pane. Double click on your backup set and wait for it to populate the information from the cloud. This can seem like it has stopped, but it just takes a little time. From there, you can look through what is in the cloud and when you find files or folders you wish to delete, right click and click on Delete. This does not remove them from the backup settings, so they will be backed up next time the backup is run.
