Hi all. I have been banging my head against the wall on this one for days now. I’ve read through everything I could find in this forum and in the Ghost 15.0 manual.
I have tried starting the network after I get into the recovery environment (could not get network adapters) and by creating a custom recovery disc (hangs at a splash screen).
When I get to the “Drivers to include” step while trying to create the CRD I get the following:
802.11n Wireless LAN card (unusable 64-bit driver)
BlackArmor NAS 1D (Unusable 64-bit driver)
WAN Miniport (lKEv2) (Unusable 64-bit driver)
Realtek 8127T (Unusable 64-bit driver)
The wireless driver should not be an issue since wireless is not supported in the Ghost recovery environment. The BlackArmor driver should not be needed as that is not the NAS I want to back up to.
I’ve found the 32-bit version of the Realtek Ethernet card.
I’ve been completely unable to find the WAN miniport (lKEv2) driver. I don’t even know what it is or what it is for.
I am running Win 7 Pro 64-bit at ip address 192.168.1.122 and I am trying to read a NAS at ip address 192.1681.117.
If anybody out there could hold my hand and walk me through this, it would be great.
Thanks for the advice but sadly I do not know how to input private static addresses.
The shares on the NAS have been mapped in Windows but I am unable to see them in the recovery environment right now.
With regards to inputting private static addresses would they be for the NAS or for my computer and where would I go to input them? Once there I'd probably be able to figure it out.
The private static IP addresses have to be inputted on the NAS, (mine is a Maxtor 3) if you access the software on the drive you should see the option to input private static addresses. It has been a while since I did mine but if I remember correctly it is not too difficult to do.
If you are still struggling with it I will have a look at my setup on the NAS and see if I can give you better instructions.
When you set the addresses the host will look something like this 169.254.0.1 and the NAS will look something like this 169.254.0.2.
the sub net mask will all be in the range 255.255.0.0. The pic shows the host setting
When you make the custom SRD make sure that the NAS is on and Ghost will then include the necessary drivers. You can use the installation CD to boot up into the recovery screen.
When you reach that screen you will see a number of options on the left, one of them being "Network" click on that and then you can enable the "Ping a Remote Computer" by typing in the IP address and ping the NAS and you will see 4 sets of IP addresses and that means the addresses are correct.
Then you need to follow these steps to "Map" the NAS
On the Network tab,
1.Click to open
2.Click "Start Networking Services"
3. Click on "Map a Network Drive"
4.Look for drive letter usually Z: or could be Y:
5.In folder Type in \\yourNAS drive name\your name. You must input this correctly, for example my NAS is called NetDrive so the input would be \\NetDrive\Deric
6. Click ok
You may have to input another user name- you will see the option and just follow the instructions.
That should map the drive and Ghost will be able to see it.
As far as the IP addresses are concerned if your router is DHCP enabled, in other words the router has a modem attached or included, the IP addresses will be added automatically.
