I've been having a problem accessing my Verizon FiOS account on my home computer. This first occurred about ten days ago. When I typed in the web address, the web page did not load correctly. I did some programming in the past, and it appeared to look like incorrect coding which caused the page not to load right. When I tried to sign into my account, I received the page, "This page can't be displayed." message. I ran the Windows Network Diagnostics and the report said the web server I was trying to ready was temporarily unavailable. So I tried the next day and was able to log into my account. The web page loaded correctly.
Last Monday I tried to sign into my account and again the web page did not load correctly. I clicked on one of the links and received the following message on the Yahoo search page: "The requested URL https://verizon.com .... cannot be found or is not available. Please check the spelling or try again later."
I ran the diagnostics again and received the same report. When I viewed the detail information, it said: "This could be due to communication issues between your network's proxy or gateway and the web server. The proxy of gateway returned the error HTTP 502."
The steps I've taken to resolve this problem:
1. Reloaded the webpage.
2. Started a new browser window.
3. Cleared brower's cache and cookies.
4. Started browser in safe mode.
5. Started IE with no add-ons.
6. Restarted router; resetted router.
7. Ran scans.
8. Contacted Verizon.
I tried another browser, Google Chrome, and the same problem occurred. I was able to access the Verizon website at work. I do not have another computer at home so I don't know if there's a problem with my laptop. The Verizon web page appears to be the only site I've come across with this problem. I have contacted Verizon. They said the problem has been resolved, which it has not.
I'm wondering if the firewall is unintentionally blocking the web page from loading correctly and keeping me from signing in. I have not changed any settings to Norton. In fact, one day last week, the program wouldn't open and I had to purchase a new program because I exceeded the three installations.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
