So you say you have the same problem? What is exactly happening? Did you try to do a full scan?
Norton technician has fixed it for me by the removal of the malware
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\tdssserv.sys
the original symptom(S) were
- my desktop background changed to include the image of a pop-up window warning me that my pc was infected with spyware.
- internet explorer become unstable and kept crashing
- the pc froze from time to time
- pc would lock on dowload & start up (I had to power cycle it)
but the most anoying was not being to access any security related websites for exampl norton, mcafee, sophos - i could happily access anyother site - could the virus be 'smart' enough to do this?
Anyway fixed now.
This is common in today’s Internet Threats for them to Block Security Web Sites.
Hi
"tdssserv.sys" Is a Trojan connected to Antivirus XP 2008 (and variants) It's a Rogue security program, that also hijacks your browser.
Hope its all gone including registry entries.
