Hi, Just requesting help:
So I can have internet connection, but I can't get LiveUpdates. I don't know why.
Last time, to fix this, I upgraded to 2011. That was last week. And it was fine but now I need another update and it won't find the interenet connection.
Is there a way to fix this? Is there another way to get updates? What else do you need to know to help?
If it helps: I'm Windows 7, using school and dorm networks for internet, and I don't know much about computers.
Thanks.
-Alex
Hello alexige
Welcome to the Norton Community Forum
There might be a conflict of firewalls between NIS 2011 and your schools firewall. Does your school provide any security program for all their students to use or are you free to use any security program you want. ? This might be something you have to ask your school's IT dept. .
Hi Alex,
Welcome to Norton Community!
Please get us the exact error message with the error code. You can find it from the LiveUpdate window or from the Security History. If possible, please attach log.LUE. I think, the location of file is
C:\Program Data Data\Norton\{...}\Norton Internet Security\Lue\Logs

No, they don't have a security program. I should be able to use Norton.
Hi alexige,
DId you have to set your browser to use a proxy server on the dorm network? If so you might have to similarly configure NIS 2011. Go to Settings > Miscellaneous Settings > Network Proxy Settings.
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. When I open my browser I always have to log in with my assigned username and password to access the internet. Is that the proxy server you mean?
How should I change those settings?
Hello alexige
If you use IE 8, go to Internet Options, Connections, Lan and see if anything is filled in there for proxy. Don't change anything, just look and right down any info if there is anything listed there.
There's no address but it says 80 for Port.
