From where did you download the add on pack?
Hi Bob,
It sounds like you may have encountered a problem with the Download Manager. The setup file should be ~22MB.
If you have an English product, try this link. Let me know if you need a different language.
Thanks jgreen. The download worked from that link. The install seems to be going OK as well.
FYI.. the download link I used was reached using the following URL:
http://www.symantec.com/norton/products/overview.jsp?pcid=is&pvid=naop2
You have to select Download from that page and the one that follows until you eventually reach
https://webdl.symantec.com/downloadxdm.aspx?SASSERVER=lcsitemain.symantec.com

Hi Bob,
Just confirming - this looks like the Vista download; can you confirm that Vista is your OS on the computer used to download the Add-On Pack? Also, was the link you posted the one that you had problems with?
Thanks,
Matt
I have Norton Internet Security 2008 and am trying to download and install the Add-on Pack 2.1 to get the parental controls. Whenever I download I get a "setup.exe" file 501KB in size. When I run that file I get the message "Download already complete" even though the add-on pack doesn't show up when I run NIS.
It seem to be that the file is not 501 KB but more, can you give me the link to the Netherlands NL file.
That's quick. Thanks installation just fine.
[edit: Removed broken HTML.]
Matt:
Sorry I've taken so long to get back to you.
I have Windows XP not Vista.
The link I posted was where I had the original problem.
The pack seems to be performing OK, but I have had several blue-screens in the middle of the night around the time I typically have a Ghost backup and a full virus scan scheduled. I haven't had time to investigate and wouldn't have made a connection between the add-on pack and Ghost.
Please let me know if there's any way to check if the add-on pack is correct and possibly causing the problem.
Also, I'll need a link to the correct download for Windows XP.
Thanks
Bob
Hi Bob,
No problem on the delay. The Add-On Pack can be downloaded from here (it will do an OS check and provide you with the XP-specific download path):
http://www.symantec.com/norton/products/overview.jsp?pcid=is&pvid=naop1
On the BSOD problem, a crashdump would expedite our ability to isolate the problem. Here's the MS documentation on that procedure:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244139
Drop me a note when you have it and I'll provide you with a secure upload location via Forum PM.
Thanks,
Matt

Here's a link to the Symantec Swedish Home Page
http://www.symantec.com/sv/se/index.jsp
my language skills leave you to find your way from there!
General note -- when you log onto the Symantec Home Page you will see up at the top a click on for the country so from here when I went to the United States one and those words are there with a down arrowhead. If you click on that you can see a list of other countries and click on the one you want like Sweden and it will take you to that localized website.
Hope that gets you what you need. Do let us know.
thx for the help :-)

You'll find the answer here, I'm sure, even if it is that this is a known situation and that they are beavering away on a solution.
Hi Nicklas,
I'm not sure I understand completely what's occuring. Are you getting a program alert in NIS indicating that Phishing is not enabled? What does the toolbar in IE look like (is it green, red or not visible)?
Thanks,
Matt
you right with what you say. i cant get the menu at all in ie and ff. so its not visible.
but it is in the toolbars menu. and when i tried to active it nothing happens.
I did have n360 v2 installed earlier without any problem today on my computer with vista sp1.
but i suspected it slowed my computer down so i uninstalled n360 v2. and dicovered it was vistas service called superfetch that solwed my computer down.
so i installed n360 v2 again and this happen.
havnt find any answer on this so going to reinstall everything with norton again and see if some computermagic happens :-) computers are computers... you never know :-D
i will return with a answer later.

Hi Nicklas,
It's possible that you have some sort of Browser Helper Object "shielding" on that is preventing the proper installation of our BHO. Try running through AutoFix and see if the fix we have automated resolves the problem (click on Help & Support, choose Support and Begin Session).
Thanks again,
Matt
Everthing works now! thx for all the help guys! :-D
matt that was the 1st thing i tried before i started google the problem and ended up here :-) but auto fix didnt find any problem.
so what did i do the fix it? i uninstalled everything with symatec on the computer and rebooted.
then i deleted every folder i could find with the name symantec that was still in the computer, and activeted every standard protection in vista and rebooted again.
now i installed everything with norton 360 v2 again and everything works. :-D
cheers
Nicklas
ps. one more thing did i learn from this.
when i deleted every folder with the name symantec i did find out were norton save the files like the add-on pack that i was posting about in the first place, so now i know were to look next time when i get same error. (roming/symantec/)
Hi Nicklas - glad to hear that the problem is resolved!
