Cannot install AntiVirus on Acer notebook

I bouught an Acer notebook with preinstalled trial version of McAfee. I like AntiVirus better, so i wanted to install it., but I absolutely cannot get rid of McAfee I know I need a tool for it, and I got it from http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

 

That did not help.

 

It will not let me run NAVdownloader on that laptop. Is there any way I could download the full installtion on my work laptop, which has Norton Corporate edition, so that I can execute the intallation in safe mode on the Acer laptop?

Hello alkuzo

 

Have you tried to look for any remaining McAfee folders on the laptop? Have you tried to use ccleaner to find any other left over entries from McAfee? Do you have any other real time security programs on that laptop? What operating system and service pack and is it 32 or 64 bit? Which version of NAV are you trying to install, 2010 or 2011?

 

Are you getting any errors when you try to run NAV? What does it say?

Usually if you run the MacAfee uninstall routine, then delete all of it's folders (some may need to be done in safe mode) then run the install from a removable media you should find your problems solved.
